One of SF’s most beloved independent woman-owned yoga studios.
We started on a rooftop in 1998 in NYC, and opened our doors in SF in 2007 as a cosmic playground for yoga, activism, music, art and dance.
The idea behind Laughing Lotus was spurred by Jasmine Tarkeshi and Dana Flynn in New York City in the summer of 1998, and Laughing Lotus studio was officially opened in the city's Greenwich Village in 1999
Then in 2007, Jasmine returned to San Francisco where she grew up, and transformed a plumbing garage in the heart of the colorful Mission district into a spiritual sanctuary to share her passion for yoga, social activism, music, art, dance and transformation.
Today The Lotus serves as an oasis in the urban jungle to get inspired and connect to the powerful teachings of this ancient practice in a welcoming and beautiful space.
Take a deep breath — what you’ve found here is real, powerful and deeply needed in our fast-paced city. Our paths may look different, but no matter what your story is you will find nourishment and community at The Lotus.
