Our celebrated teacher training, Laughing Lotus Yoga School, is fondly known as “Love Skool.” This rich, transformative program brings to life the depth and joy of yoga as a creative process and as a path to further awakening. One of the earliest vinyasa training programs in the US, Laughing Lotus Yoga School is based on a creative, dynamic, and devotional practice, merging body, breath, motion, and mindfulness.
Over 2,000 students have graduated from Laughing Lotus Yoga School, and our new teachers have been spreading the message of yoga nationally and around the world since 2000.
In fact, if you wish, Laughing Lotus SF offers the opportunity to start teaching right after graduation through our unique Community Classes program. This is a wonderful way to get your teaching going!
The Laughing Lotus Yoga School teacher training program is a comprehensive experience, and Jasmine Tarkeshi, Laughing Lotus Senior Teachers, and experts in anatomy, ayurveda, Sanskrit and meditation will be your guides. You’ll learn not only yogic tradition and history, postures and alignment, but also how to apply your new skills in the modern world.
Our teacher training is a journey: the cultivation of a personal spiritual practice, or sadhana, that will change your perspective by connecting you directly with the source of your being. Through this connection, you offer yourself as a powerful and healing presence in the world.
Once you graduate, you will have all the tools you need to confidently lead a yoga class. Our hope is that you will also experience a deeper connection to yourself, others, and the world around you.

Jasmine Tarkeshi, visionary, artivist, author and mother is the Co-Founder of Laughing Lotus Yoga Centers in NYC and SF and co-creator of Lotus Flow™ Vinyasa Yoga and Teacher Training.
Named as one of the 100 most influential teachers in America (Sonima Yoga, 2016), Jasmine has been a devoted student of the ancient transformative practices of Yoga for decades and is a master teacher, teaching for over 20 years. Born into a mystical tradition, she was raised in the Tibetan Buddhist teachings of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche by her mother and teacher, Alice Tarkeshi. Jasmine has had the honor of studying with a large number of the great teachers, saints, sages, mystics, masters and madmen of yoga’s vast healing traditions. But it was the great contemporary masters Sharon Gannon and David Life who truly turned her on to being a Yogi in the world living in NYC in the 1990’s where she also met her creative partner Dana Flynn and SadGuru Ammchi, Mata Amritanandamayimal. Her vast knowledge of yogic texts and the world’s great spiritual traditions and her ability to weave this wisdom throughout her classes has made her highly sought teacher both nationally and internationally and has garnered her the moniker Yogapedia.
Jasmine's classes are inspiring, passionate and profoundly transformative and come from a lifetime of spiritual exploration, creative expression and the blessings and inevitable difficulties of daily life. Jasmine’s belief is that every being has the right to be Happy and Free and has devoted her life to help fight bring this about through bridging yoga and activism. She also helps bring these teachings to Yogis through her Yoga and Social Justice trainings and workshops.

We use our signature vinyasa style in every class. Through creative sequencing, conscious alignment, breath awareness, meditation and relaxation, we spiritualize our physical form and honor yoga's powerful and transformative lineage. We move through the chakra system, an organic unfolding where each step prepares us for the next. We begin with breath-centered gentle warm-ups, moving through empowering sun salutations, grounding standing poses, powerful arm balances, transformative inversions, heart-opening backbends, cleansing twists, and deep forward bends and hip openers, along with mind-expanding meditation. The flow culminates in blissful relaxation, leaving you feeling happy and free.
Laughing Lotus' 200-hour training 200-hour training is open to dedicated students, current teachers, and truth seekers. One year of vinyasa practice is required, but no prior teacher training is necessary. It is strongly recommended that you have taken classes at Laughing Lotus if you are interested in applying.
The program is quite demanding, both emotionally and physically. Yoga is about relationships, and our time together asks of your complete and active participation in the community. Commitment, determination and good health are basic requisites.

We encourage you to purchase them as soon as you can and to start reading them if you wish. They will be helpful in completing your first homework assignment. These books are available at Laughing Lotus Yoga Center at a 20% discount for anyone enrolled in teacher training. If you are coming from out of town and would like to have them sooner, we suggest you purchase them through an online retailer, such as Amazon (www.amazon.com).
Yes, consisting of reading, reflection, and writing. Your first assignment will be sent to you upon enrollment in the training. Please take 1-2 weeks after your acceptance date to complete this assignment, and submit it via email to email@example.com by the first day of the first month of training at latest. You can use research materials (i.e., books from the reading list; internet searches) to help you complete the assignment.
We will provide yoga blankets, blocks, and straps. Please bring your own mat. We will provide a Laughing Lotus Training Manual. We encourage you to also bring a blank journal.
Yes! If you have already completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training program in another tradition or style of yoga, we offer you a 20% discount. This cannot be combined with any other discount. Proof of certification is required.
